La Belle Pre-Wedding Shoot

07 Aug

6 Aug 2012 was our pre-wedding photoshoot with La Belle! Hence, 2 days before on 4 Aug 2012, we made our way down for the final fitting and for dear to have her trial make-up. That day was the first time we met the make-up artist Vivi, a very friendly and skilful make-up artist hah. However, the final fitting was really disappointing! Out of the 5 gowns dear had chosen, 4 still did not fit well and required further alterations. It was worse for me. They actually mixed up what I have chosen and got me 2 (out of 3) suits wrong! Though I was kinda pissed that they did not get the basics right, we remained nice and trusted that they could right the wrong within 2 days for the photoshoot.

Woke up at 7plus in the morning on 6 Aug 2012 and reached La Belle at 9.30am. Being in Tanjong Pagar area on a Monday, parking was pricey at $2 per hour, and I used up my newly bought booklet of $1 parking coupons hah (and I still got summon for $6 for exceeding the time damn).

Anyway, dear proceeded to her make-up with Vivi right away! On the other hand, I went ahead to try my suits and was glad that they largely fitted well. At least good enough for photoshoot hah. After dear was done with her make-up and hairdo, she totally transformed into a beautiful bride hah. And then it was my turn for light make-up and hairdo.

Transformation in progress by Vivi

By the time we were ready for our studio shoot, it was about 11plus am. We then met Kenny, our photographer, and Jack, who was assisting Kenny. This was my first time doing studio photoshoot hah. It was much more comfortable as compared to outdoor shoot, thanks to the air-conditioning! The experienced and professional Kenny guided us through a series of poses and Jack was always there helping with the behind-the-scenes stuff.

Change of outfit for studio shoot

Within the small studio, there was also many different settings, backdrops and props for them to play around with. We had a total of 3 outfit change for studio shoot and after all was done, we were ready to move out to our outdoor shoot at about 3plus pm!

Our chosen destinations for outdoor shoot – Chijmes, Marina Barrage and shophouses at Kampong Bahru. To our surprise (and shock), to take wedding photoshoot at Chijmes requires an application and fee of $107 (inclusive of GST)! We were totally not aware of that and hence I called them up and they said we could head down, fill out the form and pay the fee right away. Since we really wanted to take some pictures there, decided to pay the hefty fee hah. Really hope the pictures there will turn out lovely!

We made our way to Marina Barrage at about 4plus pm and the place was crowded despite it being a Monday! There were also a few other couples taking their pre-wedding shoot hah. Not easy for Kenny to choose angles to avoid miscellaneous people in the background, and hence we were pretty quickly done with that place. We did not mind since the weather was really hot and I was perspiring like mad (as usual, and not helping that I was in suit and tie).

Finally, it was our last destination for the day! Before we left Marina Barrage, dear changed into her short dress and I just changed into another white shirt hah. The last stop at Kampong Bahru was supposed to be of a more fun feel, with the pretty peranakan-styled shophouses as backdrop. At about 6plus pm, we could finally say “It was a wrap!” heh.

It was a really tiring day (hence I took last minute leave today to just rest hah), but I guess it was pretty enjoyable. Thanks to everyone who made it possible – Vivi for transforming us into princess and prince charming for a day, Kenny for capturing the most beautiful parts of us, Jack for being the unsung hero who was quietly helping with many stuff in the background, and lastly, Peiwen for coordinating everything.

8 Sep 2012 is our next appointment with La Belle, where we will experience the headache (and maybe heartache) of photo selection hah.

    Hi Kai Xiang
I was shocked to read that CHIJMES is charging $107 for wedding photoshoot! My fiance and I intend to take wedding photos at CHIJMES too due to sentimental reasons. Did CHIJMES limit you which areas you can take, which you can’t? Did they open the banquet hall(not sure what’s the right name for it) for you guys to take photo in?

Hi Faith, yep we were shocked as well! Hmmm I am not sure if Chijmes limit any areas as we only use their outdoor compound. For us, we did not use the banquet hall as well.

Sorry, seems like I am not of much help here. Do check with them directly before you head down.
